February 5, 2019 The Confusion Around IV Infusions

We hear all the time: “…Oh, I don’t need that, I stay well hydrated.”  While we are super glad your water intake is up to par, that’s not exactly what IV Hydration Infusions are for. These IVs are a health and recovery booster! Our bodies are like a chemistry set, and there are one-trillion chemical reactions occur throughout the body every second!  Yes, hydration is a super perk, but the major piece is the ingredients that are IN the IV! Let’s break those down, shall we? (Not all of these are in every IV, and patients can select which ones they would like.)

Glutathione: It would probably be easier to list what glutathione doesn’t do! At its core, glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that combats free radicals. English? Free radicals damage your cells. Glutathione helps to stop that damage all together. As we age, our body produces less and less natural glutathione, which leads to more damaged cells and in turn, poorer health. Our levels can also decrease with poor nutrition, environmental toxins, and stress. Glutathione is best administered IV, as studies show that taking 500mg orally twice daily for an entire month didn’t actually raise glutathione levels in the blood. Oxidative stress is when our bodies have more free radicals than ability to fight them off. This is often the precursor to major diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. Since glutathione prevents and helps to reverse cell damage, it seems to help practically everything. It makes your skin glow, slows down the aging process, helps fight off disease, can improve focus, and aids in recovery.

Toradol: Toradol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking your body’s production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. Even though Toradol shouldn’t be used for long-term painful conditions, like arthritis, it can be a great tool for reducing pain so that you can return to your daily activities. Toradol can be used to decrease swelling, reduce pain, and lower fever. Patients often receive Toradol before or after really difficult workouts, post-surgery or injury, or for any pain/swelling/fever reducing situation.

B Complex: B complex is composed of eight (8) B vitamins and is essential in maintaining good health and overall wellness. These vitamins directly affect your energy levels and brain function. In addition to these, Vitamin B complex aids in the following: good eyesight, healthy appetite, good digestion, proper nerve function, hormone and cholesterol production, muscle tone and much more! For pregnant women, these vitamins aid in fetal brain development as well as reducing the risk of birth defects. It can also boost energy, lessen nausea, and low the risk of preeclampsia. (We also have B12 singular injections and MegaBurn injections (which contain B complex as well)).

Vitamin C: Most people know what Vitamin C is. It is usually associated with aiding in recovery/prevention of sinus issues such as allergies or sinus infections. Which is definitely does, but it also protects against prenatal health problems, cardiovascular disease, eye disease, dry skin, and skin wrinkling. It is also critical in protein synthesis.
