Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Does BHRT cause cancer? NO.
Here are some of the facts:
Cancer is caused by the body being chemically out of balance.
According to multiple research studies, pellets do not have the same risk of breast cancer as high doses of oral estrogens, like Premarin, or the synthetic, chemical progestins used. In fact, data supports that balanced hormones are breast and other organ protective.
Now, HRT’s reputation was very damaged in 2002 when the Women’s Health Initiative put out a study that stated the very serious dangers of Premarin and Provara, which are horse estrogen and synthetic progestins. These are not the same as bio-identical hormones because the previously mentioned are foreign bodies that your body does not recognize! They are toxic! That’s like comparing apples to oranges! Bio-identical hormones are indistinguishable from the hormones your body already produces.
Getting your hormones on track isn’t just to treat current symptoms, but to decrease the risk of chronic disease.
To quote, Elizabeth, a Psychiatrist in California that specializes in nutrition and brain heath and is certified in BHRT,
“Think about it, if our own natural hormones were so dangerous, doctors would recommend that all women have their ovaries removed once they were finished having children. In fact, previously we routinely removed ovaries when doing hysterectomies, with devastating results for women. Now, the ovaries are preserved if at all possible, because, even if they are only making tiny amounts of hormones, it is far better than having no hormones at all.
It really makes perfect sense.
If these natural hormones caused cancer, young women, and especially pregnant women (who have the highest hormone levels), would have very high rates of cancer as that is when hormone levels are highest, but that is just not the case. Young women and pregnant women have very low levels of breast and other cancers. It is older women, with declining or menopausal levels of hormones, either on no hormone replacement or improper/inadequate hormone replacement, who are getting breast and other cancers.”
